Crashed my '96 na on a canyon road literally less than half a mile from my house on my way home one night. Damaged two wheels, front bumper, door and quarter panel. Air bags deployed. I thought that overall the car didn't 'look' that bad, insurance took one look at it said it was totalled before they even wrote a report. Obviously I was pissed to hear that because I wanted my Z, not a check. I asked if they would repair the car and I'd keep it with salvage title, said they wouldn't touch the car. My Z was immaculate, this is the car my gt30 motor was originally being built for. CA car, about 160k on it. They didn't offer me what I thought I'd get for it to say the least--definitely not 12k. Mine was na but was '96 and probably valued equal or greater than '91 TT. I bought my '90 TT before the tow truck hauled away my '96. Had I taken about $1500 less, the insurance would've let me keep the car. In hindsight, I should've kept it, even just to part it out at the least. Any insurance will probably call your Z a total loss due to the cost of repairs and age of the car (22 years). Body panels and paint alone will probably be greater than half of the car's value as appraised by insurance. If you are set on keeping your Z and repairing, do a thorough inspection for frame and suspension damage. If things look good, keep and repair. If not, you may be better off taking what the insurance offers and shopping for another Z. If you do give up the car, make sure all goodies are removed and it's in stock form. Or keep it and part out/salvage what you can. Sorry for your loss, I feel your pain. Best of luck
